You can also search the National Jobs and Learning Site for information on courses, jobs, voluntary work and help with childcare. This uses the Jobcentre Plus search facility and is available through the Directgov website.

The Site Map is rather like the index of a book. It lists the main elements of the website in alphabetical order. It explains what they are for and wherever possible has direct links to those pages.

ƒ CGtell Learning Resources - this link displays a list of resources provided by Carr-Gomm and CGtell and gives easy access to our own online learning materials.

Creativity - this part of CGtell lets you post original writing, recipes, or pictures. More details are given below.

Creative writing - this section lets you post original writing such as a story, article, or poem.

† Diary - this is used to publicise upcoming events of interest to site users. Registered users can use the diary to create reminders of their own (the My Diary function).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - a list of Frequently Asked Questions and their answers.

Forum - a discussion board for CGtell users. Any site visitor can browse the Forum. To make your own postings you have to be a registered user and logged in to the site. More details below.

† Help- online help, which appears in a pop-up window. (Click new window in the help pop-up to break out of the pop-up window.)

Home Page - introduces you to CGtell and gives links to the site's various sections, with tools for locating resources.

Links - a listing of links from CGtell. These are organised into the same categories that are used to classify resources on the site.

Lost Log In - use the form on this page to request a reminder of your username or password if you have lost these.

‡ Move-On Diary - available only to Carr-Gomm staff who request upgraded registration. This is a tool that can be used to help tenants who are seeking to move to independent accommodation.

‡ My CGtell - provides personalised content for registered users who have logged in. More details below.

‡ My Details - if you are already registered, and have logged in, this link will appear at the top-left of your screen. It gives you the option to review or amend your user details.

Never-Ending Stories - a feature that lets site users collaborate on a narrative.

News from CGtell

News - select a story to view details. The most recent stories are listed first. Headlines for the three most recent news stories are shown on the home page.

Online Feedback - this questionnaire can be used to pass on your comments about CGtell and any suggestions you may have for improvements or new resources you would like to see on the site.

Partners - the CGtell Partners scheme allows other organisations to provide access to our resources to their own service users. Organisations with learning resources can add them to our site directly by becoming Partners.

Picture Gallery - share photos, drawings, and other artwork.

Providers - a list of all of the different providers who have resources listed on CGtell.

Recipe Book - read recipes submitted by CGtell users or add one of your own.

Register - this link will appear at the top-left of your screen if you are not logged in to CGtell. This gives you the option of Registering with the site.

Site Map - opens the Site Map (this page).

Subject Categories - lists the different categories used to classify the resources on CGtell. Select a category to see its sub-categories.

Subjects - lists the different subjects covered by the resources on CGtell. Some subjects may not have any current resources.

Text Only - selecting this option will display the site without graphics.

Topics & Providers - provides quick links to lists of the subjects, categories, and providers listed on CGtell.

User Satisfaction Survey - send us your feedback about the site by filling in this very short online form.

Finding Resources and Searching CGtell

Most of CGtell's Resources are listed in databases and can be located using the Search Tools.

Search: enter a search term to search CGtell
Look in Resources or Links. Resources is the default.
Change Region: select a region to filter resources for your region. The default is to search all regions and as this includes online resources it should give you the widest range of results. However, if you have logged in before you start your search the default will be the region you nominated during registration.

The site also incorporates the Google™ search tool which we recommend you use if a search of our databases does not give you any results.

The latest courses and new online sections on the home page display the most recent three additions to the resources databases. These are sorted according to region so may appear differently once you log in to the site.

‡ My CGtell

Available to logged-in users only, this has the following five elements:

My Forum: view and edit your postings to the Forum.
My Resources: Favourite resources listing.
My Providers: Favourite providers listing.
My Reviews: Listing of user's reviews. *
My Diary: A direct link to the CGtell calendar.

* Reviews: view a review where the review icon is displayed. Logged-in users can add their own reviews of resources and providers listed on CGtell.

Accessibility Options

Alongside the Registration/My Details link are two of CGtell's key accessibility features.

The Text Only option will display the site without graphics.
The † Screen Settings toolbar provides you with a menu of options for selecting screen colours, font sizes and font colours. This menu also provides a Save Your Settings function so that next time you visit the site and log in, your choices of font and colour are automatically used. These settings can be reviewed at any time.

Keyboard navigation - CGtell can be navigated using your keyboard. This is explained in our Help section.

This part of CGtell is divided into four sections:

While any site user can browse these sections, you can only add new materials to these four sections if you are registered with us and have logged in.

Forum

Online discussion board for CGtell users. Anyone can browse this but only registered users who have logged in can access certain functions. Click on a message title to open that discussion thread.

‡ New Message - start a new discussion.

Home - return to the Forum index page.
‡ Reply: Post a reply to a forum message.
‡ My Posts - view and amend your own postings to the forum.
