Carr-Gomm Move-On Policy has been updated posted: 14 January 2010
After living with Carr-Gomm for a while you may be ready to move into more independent accommodation. Our Move-On Policy details what Carr-Gomm staff should do to help clients who are getting ready to move on from Carr-Gomm. Most Carr-Gomm services are short-term and have the aim of getting clients ready to live more independently within about two years.
There's a copy of the Policy on the CGtell website with much more information about this - please use the link at the bottom of this page to look at this.
We have recently updated the Move-on policy to make sure it is still up-to-date. We have included more guidance for staff on things like
- working with clients who have been with us a long time and may be particularly worried about moving on
- helping clients in services for young people
Clients helped us to review the policy. We asked clients who were in the process of moving on to give us their views:
- We asked what were the important things clients need to know about when moving on. Clients told us that the things we already cover are important and gave us some ideas of other things to include
- We asked whether using Measuring Change during the move-on process was useful. Most clients thought it was very useful, for example
“Using Measuring Change made me take the time to look at what has been happening in my life and what I needed to work on to achieve my goals”
- We also asked clients about a booklet we’ve produced which gives advice on things you need to think about and do when getting ready to move.
We received some very positive feedback about the booklet which most clients thought would be useful. We have now published this as the Carr-Gomm Move-On Pack and you can find out more about it, and view the online version, using this link: Move-On Pack.
We also created a poster to remind you of the key things you need to do before moving, and there's a range of other online information about preparing for independence.
But remember: if you have any questions at all about move-on, please ask your Project Worker. |
